Innovative NORDTECH R&D Projects Selected to Receive $30M in Federal Awards from U.S. Department of Defense
Northeast Regional Defense Technology Hub (NORDTECH), a regional consortium of government labs, defense companies, academic institutions, and technology manufacturing organizations in New York State and one of eight hubs composing the U.S. Microelectronics Commons program, is proud to announce that four innovative projects have been selected by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to receive significant federal funding. These projects are set to receive a total of more than $30 million in the technical areas of quantum and commercial leap ahead technologies. The dedicated work on these advanced projects is already underway.

By supporting initiatives like the Warrior-Scholar Project and Vet S.T.E.P., NORDTECH is committed to empowering veterans with the skills, experiences, and confidence they need to transition into meaningful civilian careers—particularly within the semiconductor industry, a field that is essential to U.S. national security and technological leadership.
RPI To Host NORDTECH Workforce Development Summit
TROY, N.Y. — On July 18, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and NORDTECH will host a day long Workforce Development Summit on the RPI campus that will bring together government, industry, non-profits, and academic partners to address education and workforce development in chips and semiconductors critical to the prosperity and security of the nation.

NY CREATES, UAlbany’s College and Nanotechnology, Science, and Engineering and RPI will also be part of the newly formed Northeast Regional Defense Technology Hub (NORDTech). The hub, which also includes Cornell University and IBM, recently received $40 million for semiconductor industry workforce training programs for the semiconductor industry and the acquisition of new microelectronics equipment.
